How To Blog Using Blogger: My Journey

I've always found interest in blogging basically because I really enjoy my thoughts, and I  mean, why not share them with a larger population? And when I discovered Blogger through thorough research, I knew I had to give it a try. In this article, I want to share my experience and guide you through the process of starting your own blog using Blogger. Whether you’re a complete beginner or just looking for a simple platform, Blogger has something to offer. Walk with me on my journey as a blogger. With that being said, let's dive in.

Setting Up Your Blog

1. Creating a Blogger Account

The first step was to create a Blogger account. The steps for this process are quite simple, honestly. I went to the Blogger website and clicked on “Create Your Blog.”

After clicking Create Your Blog, you will be asked to sign in with your email address or Google account. If you don’t have a Google account yet,

You'll need to create one.

2. Choosing a Blog Name and URL

This next step actually stressed me out a little since all my ideas for a blog name were taken. I trust you will be very creative with selecting or choosing a

name for your blog. It’s important to pick something catchy that reflects what you would want to write about. After that, I created a URL.

Blogger suggested a few options based on my blog name, and I picked one that I liked. Must say, the blogger decided to help me out.

3. Selecting a Template

This is one of the interesting parts of creating your blog because it is at this point where you see how your blog will come together. You can decide to use

The custom themes blogger provides, or you can download your own theme.

This is how to upload your own throne.

1. On your blogger dashboard, go to the theme

2. On the theme page, click the dropdown for customization

3. Click on "restore."

4. Select "upload"

Kindly let me know in the comment section if you are having difficulties.

Tips for Selecting a Niche

  • Passion: Choose a topic you are passionate about. Your enthusiasm will shine through your writing.
  • Expertise: Consider your knowledge and skills. Writing about what you know will establish your credibility.
  • Market Demand: Research potential audience interest using tools like Google Trends or keyword research tools. Look for topics with substantial search volumes but manageable competition.

Popular Blogging Niches

1. Personal Finance: Tips on saving, investing, and budgeting.

2. Travel: Travel guides, tips, and personal experiences.

3. Health and Wellness: Nutrition, fitness tips, and mental health advice.

4. Food: Recipes, cooking tips, and food reviews.

5. Lifestyle: Fashion, beauty, and personal development.

You can choose any of the above, especially where your stronghold is, and dissect it for your audience.

Creating and Managing Posts

4. Writing My First Post

To create a blog post, click on the "new post" button on the dashboard. Get creative and make sure to write very high-quality content.

You can preview the post before publishing. After you are done writing and proofreading, click on the "publish" button to publish the post.

Configuring Blog Settings

5. Adjusting Privacy Settings

Next, I took a look at my blog settings. I wanted to make sure my blog was visible to everyone, so I adjusted the privacy settings accordingly.

Blogger allows you to choose whether your blog is public or private, which I appreciate.

6. Comment Moderation

I also set up comment moderation. This way, I could review comments before they appeared on my blog.

It made me feel more secure, knowing I could manage what people were saying.

7. Promoting My Blog

Once I had a few posts published, it was time to promote my blog. I shared my articles on social media platforms like WhatsApp and Quora.

I also engaged with readers by responding to their comments, which helped build a community around my blog.

Monetizing My Blog (Optional)

If you’re interested in making money from your blog, Blogger has options for that.

You can easily add Google AdSense to display ads on your site. All you need is to create an AdSense account and link your website to it. That will be covered in our next post.

I'm sure you can testify that starting a blog on Blogger is an enjoyable and straightforward process.

The fact that a blogger is beginner-friendly makes it more interesting to use.

Start your blogging journey today, and who knows where it might lead you.
